alrighty...i got a little bored with not being able to sleep tonight, so i caved and good ol' catholic-guilt got to me. and here we are:
Stuff Portrait Friday: September 22nd 2006
1. Something you have outgrown…i used to bite my nails something awful. when i started dating the loveofmylife, she encouraged me, and i quit biting my nails...helped me to realize it was a way i was not respecting myself. and was rewarded with a beautiful ring that new year's eve.

2. Something you have overcome..
up until the fall of 2005, i was absolutely petrified of speaking in front of a group. as part of my nursing school prerequisites, i had to take a speech class. it met on tuesdays and thursdays from 6-9pm, for 7 weeks. (what is it with me and the accelerated classes?) this class completely changed my life. we developed the most uncanny bond nearly immediately ~ we all jumped in head and heart first and dug way deep in our practice speeches. we all were misfits and had our own insecurities, and somehow because of that, we all fit together. i love each one of the people in this picture. i learned so much from every one of them, and i will never forget them and the time we spent together. this is a picture of our class, i am in the middle left, hot pink v-neck shirt and that is a olive drab Marine Corps sweatshirt.

3. I need help with…
two words: body image.
weight loss surgery nearly 3yrs ago - losing 115# - lots of hanging skin that will not go away. it messes with a girl's mind, i tell ya. i had an edited picture of me, but i wasnt able to leave it up for long... i felt far too self-conscious to keep it out here, but it was the fuel for my rant from last week. so i googled and found this.

Even though you are down and out this week, I decided to play the game on my blog. Frustrated that I could not upload all of the photos I chose for it. Grrrr!
Hope you begin to feel better soon.
If you need another doctor's excuse, just let me know *wink*
Hope you're feeling better...
Get well soon!
hope your feelin better ... wish i got rewards like that ring for quiten my bad habbits ...
Very cool that you overcame your fear of public speaking. Sounds like all of your classmates were in the same boat as you. Nice when you can form a bond with others.
yeah, i woulda never thought it. of course, it still gives me the willies to think of speaking in front of people, but it also gave me the tools to know how to do it -and what NOT to do- and how to at least ~look~ at ease!
our teacher was amazing. he commented thru the entire class that he had never seen a class become so close so quickly. i swear, we were all tight by the end of the second class. i of course joked and said it was the first classroom we were in, it was dark and dusty and SMALL and we figured we all better be tight sitting so close for 3hrs at a time LOL
he taught us how to be supportive and give feedback, and we all just were really rooting for everyone else to do well! at the end of the class, for our last night, he of course had one last quiz planned... he told him "no we had enough quizzes, we are happy with our grades, WE are having a potluck dinner" and he kinda looked at us like we were crazy and we looked back like 'we mean it' and he said uhhhhh, ok. and that is exactly what we did. we did have to give final 2min impromptu speeches, but it was awesome. that night was exactly one week before my dad died. its amazing time has flown to fast.
i'll have to see if i can find some of my old assignments he gave us, they are kind of like those "tag" meme's everyone does on here.
wow. sorry to be so rambly!
Came by to check out your SPF after you so diligently played and all.
Hope you get better soon!
Love to all..
